U.S. Launches Group Enrollment Feature for Smart Traveler Program (STEP)

Traveling with family, students, or organized groups has become easier and safer with the launch of a new Group Enrollment feature for the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP), announced by the U.S. Department of State.

The update allows families, school groups, tour operators, and travel coordinators to register multiple travelers at once instead of enrolling each person individually. This improvement is designed to simplify travel preparation and ensure better communication with U.S. embassies abroad.

Once enrolled in STEP, travelers receive real-time safety alerts, health updates, and official notifications from the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate during their trip. The program also helps authorities contact U.S. citizens quickly in emergencies such as natural disasters, political unrest, or unexpected travel disruptions.

Officials recommend signing up before every international journey to stay informed and protected while overseas.

This new group enrollment feature strengthens safety and improves communication for travelers abroad,” the State Department said in its announcement.

Group enrollment is now active and available worldwide.
